Federal statutes and regulations, along with DC. Code Section require the establishment of medical insurance and medical support obligations under specified circumstances, federal law also imposes on IV-D agencies a mandatory process for enforcing these requirements. In addition to establishing paternity and establishing and enforcing support obligations, CSSD is required under federal law to ensure that support orders contain provisions addressing the medical needs of children in child support cases.
