1. I have more questions about paternity and the Acknowledgement of Paternity.  Who can I talk to?
Child Support Services Division (CSSD) staff is available to answer your questions.  CSSD is located at:

  • 8:15 am to 4:45 pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, except District holidays

2. I need legal advice.
CSSD cannot give you legal advice.  But you can ask an attorney for help before you sign an AOP or decide not to sign it.  If you have an attorney, ask that person for assistance.
 
3. I don’t have a lot of money.  Where can I go for legal advice?
There are organizations that provide legal help to people with low incomes.  Some of the resources are:
  • The District of Columbia Bar's Advice and Referral Clinic, a walk-in clinic held at two local sites (Bread for the City at 1525 7th Street NW and 1640 Good Hope Road SE) on the second Saturday of each month.  Contact the Bar at 202-737-4700 for more information.
  • The Legal Aid Society of the District of Columbia represents individuals in family law matters.  The main office can be reached at:
